At 91, Carol Burnett has certainly earned a peaceful retirement. But is she ready for it? In a freshly unveiled interview with Variety, the Emmy-winning star was questioned if her recent part in “Palm Royale” marks her swan song. “Probably,” she mused. “Unless there's a cameo or something exhilarating!” Her fondness for “fun” is evident. “If it seems like it’s going to be entertaining, I’m in,” Burnett declared.

The cherished comedienne remains the architect of her own career, much like in the past when she chose to conclude her wildly successful variety show, “The Carol Burnett Show.” “I pulled the plug because we’d explored nearly every avenue, and started revisiting old sketches,” she reminisced. “I wanted to bow out gracefully before the network hinted it was time to stop. I wanted to say my farewells on my terms.”

Throughout the years, Burnett has delighted audiences with ample amusement, especially when it was most needed. As the election cycle draws to a close, Burnett steers clear of political discourse, as always. “I steer clear,” she confessed. “It may sound trite, but I wish for people to rediscover joy, love, and happiness as real possibilities.”

Thus, add “hope” to her list of cherished concepts. “The state of the world today frightens me,” she admitted. “That’s my greatest fear. Yet despite it all, I hold onto hope.
